Tour Description: This voyage leads to the Awash National Park, Erta ale active volcano and Danakil Depression.

Day 1: Arrive Addis Ababa

Arrive in Addis Ababa meet the guide at the airport transfer to the prefered hotel then brief about the whole tour. Overnight Hotel

Day 2: Drive to Awash National Park

Drive  210km to the Awash National Park on the way you will have a short stop at Debre Zeyet to see the Creater Lake Of Hora and Lake Beseka and  different aquatic birds. In the afternoon game drive in the national park to see Beisa Oryx, greater Kudu, Soemmerring’s Gazelle, Hamadryas Baboon and other as well as you will visit the famous Awash Falls and Awash Gorge, a magnificent 150 deep gorge carved by the Awash River, forms the southern boundary of the park, and walk on the bank of Awash River to see Crocodiles. Overnight camping or Lodge.

Day 3: Drive from Awash to Semera (370km)

Drive to Semera passing the northern part of the rift valley, where more than 70% of our ancestors were discovered in this area including the famous skeleton of Australopiticus Afarnesis “Lucy”. In the late afternoon you reach at Semera, the regional capital of Afar National Regional State and get your travel permit for the Danakil depression. Overnight camping or Hotel.

Day 4: Drive from Semera to Lake Afdrea (230 km)

Drive to the Afar triangle to Lake Afdrea, it is the largest salt lake in the area covers 11,300 ha surface area lays 230km north of Semera . One of the biggest salt mining sites in Ethiopia along adorned with a stunning beauty. Lake Afdrea is always in the minds and dishes of millions. This day you will sleep on the shore of the Lake almost -105 below sea level. Overnight camping.

Day 5: Drive from Lake Afdera to Abedlali (almost 100km)

After breakfast, you will hike on the shore of the lake to see the salt mining then drive to Abedelali after driving 23km new asphalt road you reach sand plain and drive almost 70km to Abedelali further 13km drive on lava field takes an hour and half. In the afternoon you reach to the base camp and have a short rest, then start trekking to Erta Ale takes 3:00 hours . In the evening on the rim of the Lava Lake (the best time to visit Erta ale is at dawn to avoid excessive heat). Overnight camping on the rim of the volcano.

Day 6: Drive from Abdelali to Hamed Ela.(110km)

Walk back to base camp and meet your car and drive to Ahmed Ela. Drive on the lava field the on endless sand plain, on the way you will visit Afar village. On this day you will sleep below sea level, overnight camping.

Day 7: Day trip to Dallol

In the morning drive to Dallol, it is the lowest part of the country 116m bsl and famous for endless salt plain with its bubbling springs of sulfur salts in yellow, red and green. And Lake Asale, which covers 3600 ha, the Afar people extracting salt bars almost 7days a week except Friday and transported on camelback along the ancient caravan routes. In the late afternoon you can see the caravans from your camp site. Overnight camping.

Day 8: Drive from Hamed Ela to Mekelle (175km)

Drive to Mekelle Enroute you will visit the last place of the caravan at Berhale and proceed your drive to Mekelle on the way you will visit one of the rock-hewn churches of Tigray. Overnight hotel.

Day 9: Flight back to Addis Ababa
Different options continue tour to historic sites or fly back to Addis.
